I don’t know about you, but I often get tunnel vision. I put my nose to the grindstone and grow cross-eyed staring at the rocky surface in front of me.
But there’s something that without fail draws my gaze away to the big, beautiful world around me. The cardinal nesting in my backyard crabapple tree. The deer high-tailing it into the bushes. Or the red squirrel in my laundry room.

|
The scrabbling of little paws jolted me from my zombie-like “to-do” state. And then a furry face peered over the top of the sink …
All-righty then. Time to call the Pest Detective (a five-star name), who successfully evicted Alvin. Weeks later, I still get a rush of adrenaline whenever I open the door, expecting the unexpected.
We all have a proverbial squirrel in the laundry room – that thing we’d rather shut the door on. But we must roll up our sleeves and figure out how to handle it. That’s exactly what the healthcare providers, leaders and professionals featured in this issue have done. Enjoy!
